The documentary is dedicated to the first Abay's Collected Works. The collection was released by liya Boragansky's publishing house in St. Petersburg in 1909. The film recounts the challenging journey of publication of the great Abays legacy. Following the writer's passing, his son Turagul Abayuly and nephew Kakitay Iskakuly started gathering Abays works in order to publish a general collection of the heritage of the Kazakh educator later. Abay's apprentices also assisted them in their endeavour. Alikhan Bokeikhanov and Akhmet Baitursynov were also actively involved in the publication of Abays works.
